Petro Barrier Systems Products -
to prevent oil and other chemical spills

Petro Barrier Systems has a range of standard products designed to fit into standard floor drains and storm water boxes (storm drain protection). Many customers have unique and specialized needs when it comes to their containment requirements however, and we are also able to custom manufacture and tailor our products to meet your particular needs. Please contact us for further information about how we can suit your individual requirements.

All products include the Muir Lock Monster Technology Protection (US Patent # 7,014,755 B2)

Protection Solutions for Floor Drains

These devices efficiently protect standard pipe floor drains, and are some of our most popular products. They allow for the free flow of water, while providing filtering of small amounts of grease and oil. In the case of a major spill of oil, they will stop the flow of all liquids into the drain. They come in two sizes to fit conventional 3" and 4" drains, but can also be made to fit any diameter pipe. A flexible version is available for drains that are not straight. They are quick and easy to install. For outdoor installations, an optional Leaf Barrier can be attached to help keep the product from becoming clogged with debris and dirt.

Installation is easy!

Berm Wall Protection Solutions

These innovative products are designed for situations where the installation of a vertical product is not an option. They are attached directly to a berm wall, and allow for optimal water flow, while maintaining the reliable oil containment features of our other products.

This unprotected outlet
pipe means that oil
leaking from the
transformer would
spill out, contaminating
the surrounding area.
The area is now protected
with the Berm Barrier!
Any spilled oil would be
contained within the
bermed area.

Pressure Filter

This product has been designed to treat bilge water from marine vessels, oil contaminated water pumped from sumps and as a polishing filter for water exiting from oil/water separators. A modified version can remove trace heavy metals from waste water including copper, iron, lead, zinc and mercury amongst others.
The 3 sizes which are currently available can deal with pump capacities ranging up to 25 g/m and larger sizes can be offered for greater pumping rates.

Petro Pad

The Petro Pad is a polyester "pocket" filled with absorbent material. It is designed to be used in basket filters, California type storm drains, sumps and under equipment leaking oil. Any hydrocarbon oils are absorbed while water passes through the pad.

Storm Drain Protection Solutions for Water Drains
Basket Filter

This unique device is comprised of a mesh body that is filled with pads containing our special absorbent materials. It can be easily inserted into storm water drains, and is effective at removing oil sheen, while at the same time allowing for the easy passage of water into the storm drain. In the case of a large oil spill however, the absorbent material will act to completely stop the flow of liquids into the drain, preventing contamination of the water system. The pads can be easily removed and replaced.

Storm Drain Protector Top

The Storm Drain Barrier is the recommended product for the protection of storm drains in case of major oil spills. If a spill produces more than the normal 'sheen', or if there are trace amounts of oil present in the water exiting into the storm drain, it will create a barrier which will stop the hydrocarbons from flowing any further.

For the standard storm drain, the barrier comprises of 4 types of barriers:
- Three of these barriers are designed for filtering and plugging the water.
- The remaining is a by-pass that instantly plugs the barrier when activated by the three filtering barriers becoming blocked. If the plugging is caused by oil, the by-pass barrier will stop any further flow of liquids. However, if grit and silt or other non-hydrocarbon material causes the block, the by-pass barrier will allow water to continue to flow freely.
